Content is king. I think all of us have heard that. Is it true? Is content that powerful and important for your online business?
I'll tell you the answer now. Content is nothing without the other activities related to it. Just like cars or engines without gas are useless lump of metal, contents without marketing activities are nothing but words.
What are the other activities I mentioned above?
First and foremost, once you have written articles, you need to place them on the Internet to start getting visibility.
You can put the articles on your own website. There are ways you can use articles on your website to attract and keep visitors. Every website has one or more web pages. Search engines crawl those pages and include them in their index. When their users search for certain keywords these pages are returned according to the ranking defined by algorithm only known to the engines.
However, search engine marketers have done their best to test and experiment different guidelines that make a web page ranks well in search listings.
Pages can be anything from a contact form, web site tools, article pages, and more. More pages in search engines don't always translate to more traffic. Search engines, such as Google and Yahoo, pay attention to content on the page to search for patterns and keywords. The other thing that matters is the inbound links from other websites to your own site.
Don't expect your website to shoot to Google's top ten the hour your put your articles. Search engines crawl millions of sites and billions of pages so it takes time to do all the work.
Content is an important currency that makes your site rank in the index though. To conclude, you need to publish your articles and promote them to gain backlinks. The more backlinks you get, the stronger your link popularity and the higher it ranks in search engines.
Contents or articles are king, but marketing is what makes the them running.
